1st ANNIVERSARY MONSTER

Postyourstoryhere

The jaunty music comes courtesy of Django Reinhardt. It’s from this entirely excellent CD right here.
I hope I won’t have to cease and desist. Either way, I hope you know that 344 LOVES YOU

Congratulations on your First Anniversary! I started following about 12 and have been hooked since. I have the book on my wish list on Amazon.com and will buy it as soon as it comes available. I’m looking forward to all future monsters.
    Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

I came late, but I made up for that I think…*S* I’ve been having double fun here ever since I found the lil creatures.
What a fun short ride it’s been. I can’t imagine how it could have been any MORE fun.
I’d really like to thank whoever send me here the first time, but I can’t remember who it was. So I’ll just thank the universe.
    Happy Day to you, Stefan.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 335 days since I wrote my first story for your lovely monsters (347 since first finding this site). A forum I frequent had the link to monster 18 and a bunch of us made quite the commentary on it; and others. The upside-down drawing had us all in awe. Your talent has no bounds.
It has been an incredible ride, indeed, Mr. Bucher.

    Happy Year Number ONE!
Daily Monsters has been a great source of creativity for all of us. It’s inspired us to be better monsters, um, er, people. The message is simple: When life throws you an ink blot, make a monster! Your website has always been entertaining, and it always brings a smile.
Here’s to Year Number TWO! It’s going to be a great ride. As long as you enjoy it, so will we.
    Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Even though I only contributed to just one of your daily monsters, I am a frequent visitor of this site and I find it’s always fun and engaging to check out. Happy First Anniversary and I look forward to next year!

Boleslaw is quite a dapper fellow and a hit with the ladies at the Polka Hall – especially when he remembers to put his teeth in. “He’s just got a special spring in his step” says favored dance partner, Marge.
Happy One Year Anniversary and congratulations on creating such a wonderful and unique gift for all of us – thanks! Like your monsters – you and your site are one of a kind.

That’s gonna put a happy step in my day. *L*
Quite a “monster” change since #1, isn’t it?

Happy Anniversary, Stephen! Experiencing the Daily Monsters amidst the corporate mumbo jumbo – it just brings a bright spot to the morning (or as soon as I can get a peek) and helps me not forget that illustration is still out there in the world of techno-everything. Thank you!

The music played lightly over the loud speakers as attendees filed into the auditorium. This session was the talk of the conference. A packed hall was to be expected. Skipping the previous sessions or attending a panel already in the room guaranteed a seat. Finding two square feet of space on the floor was lucky.
Large monitors on either side of the stage displayed notables from the last 365 days. Some were even present and would get a cheer when their image flashed across the screen. All the talk and rustling almost drowned out the music, a giddy tune reminiscent of bluegrass, decades past.
With a tap of the toes and a twitch of the tail, Arthur Coil (a renowned historian and host of the First Annual Monsters Conference) merrily hopped onto the stage. The auditorium burst into a cacophony of clapping, hoots and other noises one might expect from a room full of inky-black beasts. Arthur gave a wink to an attendee on the front row and the acknowledgment garnered a snack tossed playfully his way. The crowd laughed as he snatched it out of the air. A good chuckle was had, indeed.
Arthur gave a small jump to grab the rolled screen before giving his talk. “Happy Anniversary” got some great applause and cheering as it slid down into view. But it was the second screen that really got the crowd roaring. After the flipping of the first subsided, Arthur revealed the motto of the community’s benefactor, “344 Loves You!”
Mr. Coil’s session may have been the last one of the conference, but this party is just getting started.

Griffith loved popcorn. The only thing he loved more then popcorn was the Tango. He loved to dance and eat popcorn. Back in ’82 when he was a professional Tango dancer, he would asked to be paid in popcorn. His fellow dancers thought he was out of his mind, but to him, popcorn was worth more then gold.
He couldn’t remember when his love for popcorn started. He has a vague memory of being a young monster and tasting the heavenly stuff. But he couldn’t remember where he was or the occasion surrounding this delightful discovery. Nevertheless, he fell madly in love with the gloriously crunchy stuff and hasn’t been a day without it since he was able to get it for himself.
He would dream of popcorn falling lightly from the sky as he danced the Tango in a field of wild flowers. He would dream of people handing him bags overflowing with the popped corn as he walked down the street. At times, it was all that he thought about. Oh, how he loved the popcorn.
He didn’t think he was odd for his obsession with popcorn. Everyone around him thought it was a little excessive, his devotion to the snack food. But that didn’t matter to him. Popcorn and the Tango made Griffith happy. And being happy was what it was all about.

A couple days late, but Happy Anniversary, nonetheless. Here’s my song to mark the occasion:
    Happy, happy, happy
    Ann-i-ver-sary!
    Will you still be drawing,
    When you’re 83?
(Let’s hope so!) Thanks for always bringing the goodness with the monsters Stefan!

    Django Reinhardt is awesome!
Hopefully, everyone will know what the poem below is based on.
    _ _ _ _ _ _
“You are old, sir monster Edward,”
    The young monster exclaimed,
“So why is it that you so dance
    As if you are untamed?”
“Dear boy,” sir Edward soon replied,
“How could I stop my feet?
The urge to dance flows through my blood
And keeps me off my seat.”
“You’re old,” the youth went on, “just like I said before
And have a large, imposing jaw that hangs down to the floor
So why move only with a grin
    Through each and every door?”
“When young,” the old man answered then, “I wandered with a frown
I felt the need to always heed the things that were around
But now I am old and need some sort of pleasure in my life
So I smile broadly and ignore the influence of strife.”
“You are old,” said monster youth again, “and are a bulky fellow
Your pants are wide, your shoes are large, your midriff moves like Jell-O
So why must you bounce on the floor like you are Cinderella?”
“You are young,” said Edward with a grin, “and would not understand
The joy that hearty bouncing gives unto an elder man
Someday you’ll try it and you’ll see why bouncing is so fun for me
But now you should go run along
As this poem’s getting far too long.”

    1. Jahrestag
    344 LOVES YOU! Wie wundervoll!!!
