WEDNESDAY NIGHT BOOK MAP

Good morning. First off, thanks to all of you who posted stories for yesterday’s Weekly Monster. You guys are so brilliant! It’s always a pleasure to see what you come up with!

Below is tonight’s book map. It’s amazing how much the pace has slowed down for these final spreads. There’s no more grid to follow on these pages. Everything’s made from scratch and it takes a long time to do it right. Tonight I tackled the copyright page, wrote a new bio and took a spiffy new author photo in my trusty bathroom mirror.

I’ve got to tell you how much I love my apartment. I’ve been here for over 13 years and by now I know how to use every corner for some art production purpose. I use every part of the buffalo: The bathroom is my portrait studio, the alcove by the front door is a great diffuser for product shots, the kitchen is one big shipping center now, with way more Jiffy Paks than dishes… The place has a special magic. I’m not sure what it is. Maybe they built this joint on the ruins of an old artists’ colony. Whatever it is, I’m not sure that I could do my work anywhere else. I’m certainly not eager to try.

I definitely know that I couldn’t do my work without your excellent energy,
and that’s the biggest reason why 344 LOVES YOU

Give that dentist one of those ole monster smiles with the BIG teeth; he’ll treat you OK. He’ll be too scared to do anything else.
I LOVE my msgr bag and look forward to the next fun monster item. I’m thinkin’ now that a quilted monster bag might be a good thing to have…*MS* (monster smile)

You’re moving right along! Why are a few of them circled at the beginning?
I like the new bio pic; I love a man who can get it up and keep it up. An eyebrow, that is! What did you think?….*L*

    Hi Stefan!
Keep up the lovely work—seems like the book is coming along swimmingly. I can’t wait to see it when it finally comes out!
I’m so jealous of your brows. I can’t raise them separately… unfortunately mine work as a team.
    PS You totally ROCK! =)

Over 13 years? That seems impossible, considering I met you in Portland a mere 11 years ago… 🙂

Hi Gretchen. Calling me a liar in front of the whole class, are you? Well, I moved into my current apartment in January of 1994 and I’m still here now. I hung on to it when I moved to Portland for those long, wet 15 months—I knew it would be an interlude. Now I sort of block out everything but the nice memories of the friends I made there.
Incidentally, I’ve never been homesick for Germany, but was intensely homesick for Los Angeles when I lived in Portland. It’s a lovely place, it was just a really bad fit for me.
